Basic Skills Program

Be not fooled by the term "basic". Our medics provide a level of professional service that is un-rivalled. We take pride in our staff being able to do "the basics" well. Realistically, what separates the exceptional clinician from the good is an ability to properly implement fundamental life-saving principles of pre-hospital emergency care. If "the basics" are not performed properly and effectively, regardless of the scope of skills available, the patient could die - simple. Our expectations consequently are high, and this is why we have such a strict basic skills program.

All of our medics must successfully complete our basic skills program before they are allowed to administer patient care. Aspects of the program include:

• Comprehensive Clinical Manual

Our Basic Skills Manual is up-to-date, relevant, informative and comprehensive. Our medics are given clear, step-by-step instructions on how to approach patient care. All topics of first-aid, sports medicine and pre-hospital care are covered at a level that goes well beyond simply first aid, to ensure that your patrons receive a professional medical service. Our medics are well-prepared to deal with any potential situation arising at your event.

• Education Program

Knowledge is what gives our medics the edge, when it comes to being the best in the pre-ambulance arena. Our educational system incorporates regular lectures, online self-directed-learning modules and practical hands-on skills sessions with a focus on clinical competency.

• Comprehensive Case Documentation

We have recently performed a massive over-haul when it comes to case reporting. Regardless of case volume or complexity, our new system is designed to capture all pertinent clinical information from the scene to ensure adequate documentation and reporting. We document everything. This allows us to adequately monitor patient care delivered by our medics and enables us to keep our clients informed of all the facts.

• Case Auditing

Part of ensuring adequate clinical standards is a process of clinical quality improvement. Every significant case that we are involved in the treatment of is closely reviewed. We identify whether our approach was optimal and what could be done differently in future to ensure perfect patient care. Our staff also receive feedback on their performance to assist them in providing the highest standard of care in future.

• Ongoing Clinical Skills Validation, Professional Development and Monitoring

Advanced Skills Program

Some of our most trusted medics operate at the skill level EMT-3 or higher, and with it comes added responsibility. These medics are well qualified to administer advanced cares to the sickest patients - where it counts most. At a BARE minimum, these officers have a Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance) or equivalent. Most of our Advanced Skills Officers however are qualified well beyond this, which ensures that your patrons receive nothing short of excellence when it comes to medical intervention.
